LANGUAGES TRAVEL THE WORLD:
Challenges and Perspectives in Language, Literary and Cultural Studies in the Technological Era
9 November 2019
Deadline for abstract submissions: 5 October 2019
Language is the road map of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going to. It gives you the opportunity to explore people, cultures, trends and everything else related to it. In the era of technology, free movement and globalization, the world has become a smaller and more accessible place to everyone, no matter what language they speak or what nationality they belong to. This is because languages travel the world and travelling is something everyone longs for, finds appealing and intriguing, and, above all, rewarding
How difficult or enjoyable is this journey? What linguistic and cultural challenges do we face? How do international languages influence culture, communication and education in the modern times when students or staff mobility in the framework of the various educational programmes has brought cultures and education systems of different countries closer than ever? What are the forthcoming perspectives?
We invite colleagues, scholars, professionals and students to join us in the reconsideration of past and present relations and encounters of English with other languages and cultures as represented in literature, cultural studies and other related areas of study.
